Here are some organizations you can either avoid or be a part of. IF you think of more or want to create your own, petition me here and I'll most likely approve.
Adventuring Companies:
• Companions of the Hall is an unofficial name for the adventurers who retook and subsequently defended Mithral Hall. The members consist of King Bruenor Battlehammer, Drizzt Do'Urden and his companion Guenhwyvar, and Catti-brie, Wulfgar and Regis.
• Gray Hands are a group of adventurers whose duty it is to defend the city of Waterdeep from immense dangers. The elite band is small in number but still quite capable of felling the most dangerous of foes. While they answer directly to the Lords of Waterdeep, they are only called upon in the most dire of situations as the collateral damage from the Gray Hands' excursions can become quite extensive.
Assassins
• Citadel of Assassins is an assassin’s guild based in the Galena Mountains in Damara.
Councils
• Council of Four was the governing body of the city of Baldur's Gate on the Sword Coast. Like the name suggests, the council is made up of four powerfully minded counselors. The current rulers include Duke Eltan, leader of the Flaming Fist, Belt, a powerful warrior and adventurer, Liia Jannath, a mage, and Entar Silvershield, the richest man in Baldur's Gate, but also a strong warrior in his own right.
Mercenary
• Bregan D'aerthe is an elite drow mercenary group founded and ruled by Jarlaxle Baenre, located in Menzoberranzan in the Underdark. Bregan D'aerthe was founded by Jarlaxle Baenre choosing to separate from the matriarchal drow society. It is built of mainly rogue drow males from destroyed houses of Menzoberranzan or Ched Nasad. Widely employed by the ruling houses of Menzoberranzan, especially by House Baenre, which has the resources to hire the group regularly. Jarlaxle is currently adventuring on the surface and has left the organization in the capable hands of his trusted lieutenant Kimmuriel Oblodra. Kimmuriel longs for a time when he can return to his lieutenant status and let Jarlaxle take over again, allowing him to return to his personal psionic studies. Sometime after his adventures in the Bloodstone Lands, Jarlaxle returns and resumes his throne as leader of Bregan D'aerthe, still working in the shadows of society to establish trade and profits from the surface world. The group had an important 'role' on major events at Menzoberranzan, for instance it was hired by House Do'Urden to assist on the attack to the Fifth House, House Hun'ett.
Merchants
• Arcane Brotherhood is a mercantile company and wizards' guild that operates out of the Host Tower of the Arcane in Luskan. The organization is shrouded in mystery, as even its most high-ranking members are unknown. It is known however that their goals are political and economical control of the North.
• Highmoon Trading Coster is a dominant trading organization that controls much of the overland trade in the Sword Coast. It is led by Duldelph Maremmon. The Highmoon Coster has exclusive rights to kaorph blue wine and certain spices such as arispeg, marka and delph.
• Merchant's League is an organization based in Baldur's Gate that promotes safety among the caravan routes throughout the region surrounding the city. The League has been in decline of late due to many other local costers being formed.
• Twilight Traders are a coalition of merchants who do business with the people of the Underdark. Their business is secretive and membership is closely guarded, there being only six members. New members must be approved by the existing members and also the denizens of the Underdark. They operate from the underground city of Mantol-Derith.
Military
• Axe of Mirabar is the two thousand strong militia of Mirabar, consisting of humans and five hundred dwarves. Its members wear the crest of Mirabar (a deep red double-bladed axe with a pointed haft and a flaring, flat base on a black field) on their shield or armor. They fight with crossbows, lances and hammers, riding mountain ponies, and rothé in the winter. It is commanded by Torgar Hammerstriker. The Axe is responsible for keeping the mines of Mirabar clear of monsters. New members must take an oath to protect the Marchion of Mirabar.
• Gutbuster Brigade is a famous battlerager squad lead by Thibbledorf Pwent. They are loyal to Mithral Hall and its king Bruenor Battlehammer. They have their own brand of gung-ho tactics and often disregard the order and discipline for which the Mithral Hall army is known, in favor of a more direct approach. The Gutbuster Brigade was formed when an army of Drow attacked Mithril Hall. Thibbledorf Pwent hand selected a score of dwarves to train as battleragers—a chaotic form of fighting, with different Battlerager Guilds having varying styles - Thibbledorf's personal 'art' consists of putting on an armor full of spikes, and throwing oneself at the enemy, convulsing and shredding them. A highly efficient way of fighting in the narrow underground corridors, the young Gutbusters took the drow completely by surprise.
• Iron Guards are a militant group tasked with defending Citadel Adbar. They wear full plate armor and shields, and carry war axes.
Monastic
• Weeping Friars are an organization that believe there to be only a finite amount of pain and suffering in the world. They offer to undergo suffering on a person's behalf in exchange for money or items, usually taking the form of alcohol or trinkets.
Spies
• Spysong is a scouting organization that collects information about threats to the kingdom for the king of Damara, Gareth Dragonsbane. Spysong currently operates in the Bloodstone Lands. Their primary mission is finding the location and the defenses of the Citadel of Assassins.
